EHHS Wins Award for Blood Drives in 2012: 453 Lives Saved

Juan Orozco has been the HOSA Blood Drive Manager at East Haven High School for the past 2 years.  Together with his management team, he ran 3 blood drives in 2012.  As the manager, Juan was the main contact between the Red Cross and the school.  He has been responsible not only for educating student donors and making appointments, but also for ensuring that the wide variety of requirements of the Red Cross are met on the day of each drive.

This Award was delivered 2 weeks before our next Blood Drive, which will be held on Friday May 24th.   The community is invited to donate from 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm in the gym at East Haven High School. Go to www.redcrossblood.org to find this drive and register on-line!

The wooden plaque reads as follows: Award of Excellence. EHHS is recognized for superior contributions as a 3 time per year blood drive sponsor. 453 Lives Saved. CT Blood Services Region, 2012

The Red Cross Blood Drives are sponsored by HOSA- Future Health Professionals and approximately 24 HOSA members, who are students at the school, rotate through the drive as volunteers during the school day.  They work at the registration desk, canteen and as escorts from donation beds to the food area.  The donors are our wonderful EHHS students who are at least 17 years old. We have extended our blood drive this year to include the afternoon hours and we hope the community will respond by coming to donate!
