American wealth is at an all time high also, so is the average retirement account of Americans. IRead More feel sorry for anyone who followed your advice and did not share in the boom. Still waiting for your explanation of your failed Obama stock market collapse giddy prediction that went on for 2 years. WAITING !!!! Household Wealth Hits New All-time High Americans’ collective wealth hit the highest level ever at the end of last year, according to data released last Thursday, reflecting a surge in the value of stocks and homes that has boosted the net worth of many US households. The net worth of US households and nonprofit organizations rose 14% last year, or almost $10 trillion, to $80.7 trillion, the highest on record, according to the latest Federal Reserve report. Even adjusted for inflation, the Fed’s preferred gauge of prices, US household net worth – the value of homes, stocks and other assets, minus debts and other liabilities – hit a new record.

In Woodbury it is the stress of the property values decreasing and the ever increasing of taxes.Read More People can not afford their taxes now. This years shell game, the First Selectman and the BOF Chair want everyone to believe that only 40% of the taxpayers taxes are going up. 40% increase in stress in those people's lives. Hi everyone here. What Christine Coleman said is very true though i may not know her. I experiencedRead More it first hand also. It was this organization called consumer loan firm (C.L.f)that really helped me to pay my medical bills when i was in dare need of money because i am a widow. A friend of my also directed me to them. when i was about to do a major operation and i had no money at that time, they came to my rescue and in less than 48 hours, i got my loan. But to say the truth, i was nervous and scared at first because i have been scammed twice. But when i summoned up courage and follow their lending policies along with my friends advice, at the end i found myself smiling. If not for them, maybe i would have been dead by now. I have even taken another loan from them start my business after my recovery which i am also paying back now. My only advice now is that any body who is really in need of loan should contact them with their email via: consumerloanfirm@gmail.com and get a loan from them. Thanks

My experience is not anecdotal, that is usually a one time situation. My experience spans 25 years,Read More in different industries, and being part of hiring thousands of people at all different job levels. I am sure there are companies who have discriminated but they are few and far between. With all the women in HR positions all over this country, if this was news, it would have been made news long ago. Plus, people are litigious and companies are not going to risk that. In addition, since I have been privy to employee lawsuits, I never saw ONE that had to do with pay disparity with men. Sometimes they had to do with sexual harrassment, however the biggest number, according to statistics, is retaliation for being on leave, and that has nothing to do with gender.

I understand what you mean. But sometimes I feel as though the people we view as at theRead More "bottom" in some sense, are the ones who need the most help. I'm not even convinced that living here would be the best thing for them, particularly if they are entering a hostile environment. On a similar topic, the German half of my family fled a war torn country in 1950 and came to the U.S. Needless to say, Germans were not very well liked at that time. But of anyone, it was a Jewish man who gave my grandfather a job. He could easily have turned my grandfather away, but didn't. And for that, I am grateful. Different situation, of course. Aside from all of that, I agree the whole situation with immigration is a giant mess for everyone involved and hopefully gets somewhat resolved soon.

If the RSA's are still going to be used as over runs and not as runway, why the need to pave them? IRead More also believe if you look at the airport on google earth, they can fit another RSA after they pave the existing one on the southern end. And yes the MOA is flawed, but correcting it is not needed. The FAA has already told Tweed that they can not honor it because they would in violation of a number of grants. And as far as East Haven being against anything Tweed wants to do, I was on the wetlands commission and I believe the fire house and some other safety improvements were approved.
Ron July 22, 2014 at 08:02 am
Thanks Steve, you just made my point. The reasons for the overrun is for aborted take offs or anRead More over shot landing. They are not for more take off roll or landing roll out. Is a grass RSA any better than gravel ? The airport chose the grass option above all others so they would be easier to pave over. As for closing the airport after their use, how then would e-mass be a viable option for any airport, but it's in use in many and takes up less room, and could be fit at the southern end of the runway. Your pushing this as a safety issue when it clearly is not. I can not comment on the ILS issue as I was not involved back then.

One HUGH item missing in all this is one of the leading areas of money making. Bulk commerce.Read More Carriers like FedEx, UPS, USPS, all use airlines to move their procucts. Story sometime ago about small regional services like USAir in NH, make more money on fright/mail then passengers. What is missing at Tweed or surrounding properties is the availability for space these company's can use for storage/shipping of commercial goods. Right now everything goes to BDL and trucked to facilities in NoH or Wallingford. Do we realy want 48' tractor trailers rumbling down the existing streets? Airports need more then just passenger service to survive and the commercial fright side is just not posssible.

@Igor: I hear what you're saying and I almost - almost! - share your "gay pride" fatigue.Read More Now, I don't know if you remember Watergate - I barely do - but most casual news-watchers/readers then were totally fed up with hearing about it. That particular crime didn't reduce their adjusted gross incomes or otherwise affect them individually - but to suffer through all that stupefyingly boring (not like the Viet Nam news footage which got otherwise would-be protesters off their asses) televised testimony that even Walker Cronkite couldn't summarize in 15 seconds - and, to boot! Our Man who faced off against Red China only a few years prior was being railroaded! Well, as it turned out - all that "in your face" bullshit was - surprise again, right-wingers! - actually democracy working the way it was supposed to work. So, what's my point, Igor? Take a lesson from history. Try to get over your fatigue and ponder rationally about the real points-of-law issues. At least then your vote might be actually worth something.

Like many things in this Obama administration, the idea of doing nothing appeals . Then they blameRead More Congress and or Bush. We've seen it on the border, we see it in Ukraine, in Israel, In Iran, in Syria, and for many doing nothing is great. On some level I prefer to do nothing in many of these situations, but doing nothing has it's own set of consequences. Bush did too much. Obama does too little. One annoying difference is that Bush took the heat, while Obama blames eveyone else or pretends that the situations are all republican fake scandals. The border crisis they will try to point out as a law Bush signed in 2008. And they are right, but certainly doesnt tell the whole story as 3,000 kids came over on average in first 4 years of law. Obama granted amnesty (GOP said huge mistake while dems laughed at that notion as being a magnet-- gop was right) and now we see 30,000, 75,000 and projected 150,000 next year. Crisis now requires billions also someting that dems always say "doesnt cost us" . Now they are employing age old tactic of if you dont welcome this situation you are heartless. Odd--the ones taking care of the kids are the churches that the left mocks and ridiculues.
