Week Ahead in East Haven: Rummage Sale & Whist

What's happening the week of Oct. 14-18 you ask? Patch brings you a quick guide to what's going on in East Haven this week.

Monday, October 14

Happy Columbus Day!  Town offices, government offices and schools are closed today, but trash pick-up and recycling in town remains on schedule. 

Tuesday, October 15

At 6pm there's a fundraiser for the Jack Stacey campaign at Anastasio's Steakhouse, 640-656 Silver Sands Road. There is a lobster and steak dinner and reception with wine and beer. The cost is $250 payable to "Jack Stacey for Mayor 2013."  For tickets contact Bob Limoncelli 203 641-2110, or Frank Capone 203 804-3484.

Wednesday, October 16

Come join others for a "Night of Healing" at the Hagaman Memorial Library DeMayo Room 5pm to 6:30pm. Create a memorial wreath; learn ways for coping with the stress, grief and loss from the many tragedies that have happened in town and in our lives over the past several years.  Share thoughts, prayers and memories. For more info call East Haven Counseling and Community Services at 203-468-3297.

Come celebrate the Animal Haven's 65th Anniversary. The celebration happens from 6pm to 10pm at the at the Foxon Country House, 990 Foxon Road (Rte 80). There's a buffet dinner, cash bar, DJ, dancing and door prizes. Tickets are $45 (2 or more tickets purchased together $40 each). Checks may be sent to the Animal Haven, 89 Mill Road, North Haven, CT, 06473. All proceeds benefit the shelter.

Thursday, October 17

Old Stone Church Rummage Sale is today from 6-9 p.m as well as October 18 from 9am to 3pm and 6pm to 9pm; and October 19 from 9am to 12pm. The sale will take place in the church gym. Gently used clothing and accessories for men, women and children, shoes, purses, hats, bed and table linens, curtains, drapes, small household items, knick-knacks, books, toys and other items will be offered for sale.  For information, please call the church at 203-467-2907.

Friday, October 18

A Military Whist Card Party is happening at 6pm at the Hagaman Memorial Library. There will be raffle prizes, refreshments, and more. There is no need to know how to play the game of whist in order to participate in the card party. Players will be taught how to play before the game begins. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the East Haven Hagaman Memorial Library. Tickets are $8.00 per person and need to be purchased in advance of the event at the library or by calling Mary at 203-215-3252. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Library.
