Greater New Haven 2012 St Patrick's Day Parade Queen Selected

The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade's Queen Selection, sponsored by the New Haven Gaelic Football & Hurling Club and Irish American Community Center in East Haven, was held at the center on Feb. 11.

Carolyn Shea from Trumbull was selected as the 2012 Parade Queen. And Katherine Thompson from Shelton was selected as this year's Honor Attendant.

The selection event was hosted by media personality, Matt Scott. There were seven contestants representing the four Associated Irish Societies from which the Parade Queen and Honor Attendant were selected.

The event was chaired by Briana Conroy and Courtney Connors, both previous titleholders for New Haven's St. Patrick's Day parade.

Shea and Thompson will represent the four clubs that comprise the Associated Irish Societies: the New Haven Football & Hurling Club, the , the West Haven Irish-American Club and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Their first major appearances will be at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Ball on Saturday, March 3 at Yale Commons, followed by their roles as parade queen and honor attendant in the March 11 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New Haven.  The parade starts at a new time this year: 1:30 p.m. in downtown New Haven.
