Gas Company Employees Donate to Connecticut Food Bank

East Haven-based nonprofit receives 224 pounds of food from Southern Connecticut Gas Company employees for use during the holiday season.

Employees of The Southern Connecticut Gas Company (SCG), a UIL Holdings Corporation operating company, have donated 224 pounds of food to the Connecticut Food Bank for use during the holiday season.

SCG employees also provided a monetary donation to support activities at the food bank. 

The donations were collected during an annual food drive conducted by SCG’s Employee Volunteer Council at the local gas utility’s operations center in Orange and customer information center in Bridgeport.

SCG’s Employee Volunteer Council serves as a sounding board through which the company’s employees can participate in addressing the concerns of the local community.  

Over the past decade, the SCG Volunteer Council has channeled support for a broad range of social service, citizenship and philanthropic endeavors.
