East Haven Rotary Fixin' for a Free Thanksgiving Dinner Feast

Economic times remain difficult, and for many local families that means lean times this holiday season.

But East Haven Rotary Club volunteers are once again joining together to ensure that this Thanksgiving, no local resident goes without. 

Thanksgiving Dinner

For the seventh year in a row The Rotary Club of East Haven will be serving to East Haven residents a free full course Thanksgiving Dinner at the East Haven Senior Center on Thanksgiving Day at 11 am. 

In addition to a turkey dinner the Rotary will be providing all the traditional holiday “fixings” including beverages and desserts, which will be open to the public. 

Dine at Home

Club members will also be providing dinners for East Haven families that would prefer to dine at home rather than at the Senior Center. 

The Rotary will package the dinners for takeout and arrangements may be made to pick them up or even have them delivered if transportation is not available.

Let Them Know You're Coming

In order for the Club members to plan on how much food will need to be prepared, individuals or families intending to partake in the holiday meal are being asked to either contact the East Haven Senior Center at 203-468-3277 or they may call Rotarian, Bob Parente at 203-675-1588. 

The club wants to emphasize that it is not necessary for callers to identify themselves, but simply to indicate how many will be attending this holiday dinner. 

Donations Needed

With the continuing economic climate and continued high unemployment, many more families may find themselves in need of some type of assistance and the Rotary is encouraging them to attend and celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with club members, who will be volunteering their time on that day. 

Last year the Rotary experienced more diners and more home deliveries than ever before. 

With the increasing needs of the community, monetary donations would be greatly appreciated.

Breakfast with Santa

The East Haven Rotary Club was founded in 1939. Since that time Rotarians from East Haven have been involved in thousands of projects helping the residents of not just East Haven but around the world. 

In addition to Thanksgiving dinner, the club also delivers a number of food baskets in conjunction with the East Haven Food Pantry just prior to the holiday. 

East Haven Rotary will also be holding its annual “Breakfast with Santa” on Saturday December 14th, with more details to follow.
