Can You Help John, a Surgical Volunteer, Get to The Dominican Republic?

This week, Patch highlights a story featured on the GoFundMe fundraising website where people ask their community for help as they face illness or injuries; or to assist in funding volunteer work or other ventures.

Sometimes, we all need a helping hand. Neighbors, friends and families of those in need are reaching out to the community via the fundraising site GoFundMe. They’re raising funds for various causes including those who have suffered great losses as well funding trips for volunteer work.

Some of the people featured reside in East Haven or the shoreline; others have a connection to the town. For more information, visit their GoFundMe page, shown below.

John, a nurse anesthetist, is asking the public's help in funding his trip to The Dominican Republic. Once there, he will provide free surgical care to the country's residents as part of the St. Francis Hospital Surgical Missions International program. To read more about John's plans, click here to bring you to his GoFundMe page.
