Hitman Helps Easties Win

Well, since we last talked, the EHHS Varsity team has been on fire. Lead by the Best High School Bat in the great state of Connecticut, (Nicky “The Hitman” Lamberti), the East Haven Yellowjackets have reeled off three straight wins. Having opened the season with a dismal start (losing their first five), the Easties have slowly built momentum on the dominant left arm of their standout Ace, Tommy Moore. Moore has been throwing the ball as well as anyone in our area, however, he was at the wrong end of a seemingly glowing missed call against Notre Dame earlier this year, and was consistently betrayed by a defense that was far too porous. Since then, the East Haven defense was tweaked and the early season sloppiness has abated, allowing Moore can carry the team on his wiles and the joyful wonderment of Lord Charles tumbling from his fabulous left arm. The opening five games saw a team that played a Led Zepplin like - dazed and confused. Defensively, the first few games were a clinic on how not to play baseball. In addition, the team seemed devoid of anyone who could hit, with one exception, Nicky “The Hitman” Lamberti. While all those around him floundered, Lamberti did what he does better than anyone in the entire State of Connecticut, hit. He hits righties, he hits lefties, he hits high cheese, he hits low cheese, he hits junk-ballers, and hits crafty off speed wizards, he hits everyone, and hits them like no one who has ever worn an East Haven uniform has. I have said this before, and it begs repeating, if you want to see the best high school hitter you have ever seen or perhaps will ever see, you have to get to an East Haven High School Varsity game and watch Nicky Lamberti hit. The remarkable turnaround for East Haven has, in large part, been basic bare bones work in eliminating the porous defense, adding great pitching stints from the staff leader Tom Moore, and stellar contributions from Brandon Palm and Justin Fry, and of course, having a Hitman in their batting order. The team has built itself into a gutty group that will take the good fight to the end of each game. The team is further buoyed with added infusion of baseball energy from the increasing role for the long awaited return of their baseball stud Andrew Hinckley, something that can only make it all better. The scholastic season is in full swing, with our varsity, junior varsity and freshman squads all playing regularly in and around the area. At some point soon, I will provide further details on the junior squads. The only true Little League in town begins anew in Momauguin with their opening day parade and games this Saturday. The Facist Recreation League, up here in Foxon begins their season next weekend with a parade (known to have meandered up and down the wrong streets) and recreational baseball matches. In depth review of these two leagues will be forth coming in May. And so it went… Godspeed and God Bless to the Beantown, our Nation turns its eyes on YOU!CTRL + Q to Enable/Disable GoPhoto.itCTRL + Q to Enable/Disable GoPhoto.it
