Shoreline Task Force to Hold Public Meetings This Summer

The bipartisan legislative task force — chaired by state State Rep. , an East Haven resident — is studying the effects of and and what steps can be taken by state and local officials and the public to deal with storm issues.

The task force has been of this year and is holding public hearings to listen to the concerns and recommendations of local residents, business owners and other concerned citizens.

“The public hearings will allow the task force to hear from local residents about how rising sea levels and extreme storms events are actually affecting their property and their community’s shoreline and beaches,” Albis, who serves as the task force chairman, said. “We want to hear from the people who live and work in these communities about what should be done now and in the future to deal with these issues.”

The task force is expected to make recommendations for next year’s legislative session. 

Hearing Dates

The hearings will be held:

  • July 9 - Blackstone Library, 758 Main Street, Branford, at 6 pm.
  • July 23 - Penfield Pavilion, 323 Fairfield Beach Road, Fairfield, at 6 pm.
  • Aug. 6 - UConn Avery Point Campus, Academic Center, Room 308, 1084 Shennocossett Road, Groton, at 6 pm.
