East Haven 'Sunday Concerts' on the Town Green (VIDEO)

The town's free, live Sunday Concert Series kicks off this weekend on the East Haven Green.

With the town's taking place this past Saturday, summer along East Haven's shoreline is without a doubt in full swing.

And the season's outdoor festivities continue with the town's Sunday Concert Series on the .

The concerts are a free, family friendly event that will take place each Sunday night this summer from July 8 to Aug. 26. The concerts begin at 7 p.m.

Videos of several of the bands performing live — including one from this past weekend's Town Beach Party — are posted in the gallery that accompanies this article.

This year's schedule of performers is as follows:

The Summer Concerts are a fun East Haven event. However,Julie you forgot to mention in this story that the gazebo does not comply with ADA Standards and as is clearly shown in this picture is lacking access for those residents who would want to access the gazebo and are unable to because of a disability. The building of a wheelchair ramp is a required feature since this structure sits on town property and the gazebo is covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Mayor Maturo has had 10 years and 5 months to correct this....Why has it not been corrected? Is Mayor Maturo the same Mayor who claims to be disabled ignoring Federal Law and residents with disabilities?

With all due respect Mr. Hoff, ex-mayor Capone had 4 years to correct this and I supported her. Let's be fair and impartial.

These lame acts are for the geriatric crowd. Hows about getting the Marshall Tucker Band to play? Hoff, you bringing the beer?
Lou July 06, 2012 at 05:18 PM
Who is bringing the depends? Like Hoff said, how are these geriatric bands going to get onto the gazebo which does not comply with ADA Standards?
Yes,...I will be fair and Impartaila lets compare the records shall we? Mayor Maturo was in office the first time 10 years and failed to compile materials as required by the Federal ADA Law such as a Town wide Self Evaluation,A transition Plan, An ADA Compliance Officer, an active ADA Committee. Mayor April under her 4 years in office accomplished all those items and had a bus to bring residents with disabilites to out of town Dr's Appointments under Mayor Maturo the Bus now sits rusting in the Police Parking lot with weeds growing around it. Not to mention Mayor Capone made several improvements to the Senior Center which under the previous term of mayor Maturo was in deperate need of renevation and rejuvanation. I invite you to take a minute to read my latest blog on the gazebo.
Crazy Luke, Last time I checked and I may be wrong here but Alcholic beverages are not permitted on the green....But hey I can always pick up a six pack of diet Coke.
Lou, Title II requires city governments to ensure that all of their programs, services, and activities, when viewed in their entirety, are accessible to people with disabilities. Program access is intended to remove physical barriers to city services, programs, and activities, but it generally does not require that a city government make each facility, or each part of a facility, accessible. For example, each restroom in a facility need not be made accessible. However, signage directing people with disabilities to the accessible features and spaces in a facility should be provided. Program accessibility may be achieved in a variety of ways. City governments may choose to make structural changes to existing facilities to achieve access. But city governments can also pursue alternatives to structural changes to achieve program accessibility. For example, city governments can move public meetings to accessible buildings and can relocate services for individuals with disabilities to accessible levels or parts of buildings. When choosing between possible methods of program accessibility, however, city governments must give priority to the choices that offer services, programs, and activities in the most integrated setting appropriate. In addition, all newly constructed city facilities must be fully accessible to people with disabilities. 28 C.F.R. §§ 35.149, 35.150, 35.151, 35.163.

No alcohol on the green? Since when. I see Billy Buckets there every day with a 40 or two. Speaking of depends, we could use some porto-potties on the green so's Billy doesnt have to water down the trees.

Lynyrd Skynyrd will be at the Oakdale 8/17, why not get them to play since they will be in the next town over.
