Q Poll: Yankees Fans Outnumber Red Sox Fans In CT

The huge New York Yankees fan margin in Fairfield County once again gives the team a statewide edge over the Boston Red Sox in this year's Quinnipiac University's Connecticut Baseball Poll.

Yankees fans across the state are gloating with fan-base pride this morning.

For the reigning World Series Champion Boston Red Sox still trail the New York Yankees 43 to 38 percent when it comes to the total number of fans in Connecticut for each team, according to this year's Quinnipiac University's Connecticut Baseball Poll

This compares to the 42 to 37 percent Yankees lead in the 2013 survey by the independent Hamden-based university.

"Boston's World Series victory doesn't mean beans in Connecticut, where more fans back the New York Yankees — the favorites for four years now," Dr. Douglas Schwartz, director of the Quinnipiac University poll, stated in a press release. "Men and women have shifted, but the overall result is little changed. The Yankees huge margin in Fairfield County gives them a statewide edge.

Women Like Boston, Men Like NY

The survey found that a total of 52 percent of Connecticut adults say they are "very interested" or "somewhat interested" in Major League Baseball overall.

Men back the Bombers 44 to 34 percent, compared to last year when they split with 40 percent for the Sox and 37 percent for the Yankees.
