East Haven Stingers Compete in Cooperstown Little League Tournament

And you can watch the Momauguin Recreation League team play two of their games online — and live!

When play kicks off later this morning for this week's leg of the Cooperstown Dream Parks Tournament, a group of young East Haven athletes will be among the many baseball players grabbing their gloves and taking to the field.

The East Haven Stingers — made up of players from the Momauguin Recreation League program — are one of only three Connecticut teams invited to participate in this week's portion of the tournament.

Each week's winner moves on for a chance to play for the overall 2012 tournament championship title. Quite a feat with more than 100 teams cracking bats each week of the summer-long contest.

Stingers Schedule

Over the next three days, the Easties will play six games — that's two games, also known as a doubleheader, each day — against teams from California, New Jersey, Minneaopolis, New York, Lousiana and Utah.

The Stingers' schedule is as follows:

  • Sunday at 11 a.m.: Home vs. East Valley Eagles (CA)
  • Sunday at 4:30 p.m.: Visitor vs Clark Bombers (NJ)
  • Monday at 1:45 p.m.: Visitor vs Minneapolis Millers (MN)
  • Monday at 7 p.m.: Home vs. Pine Bush Bombers (NY)
  • Tuesday at 11 a.m.: Home vs Bayou Bombers (LA)
  • Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.: Visitor vs. Utah Bandits (UT)

Watching the Games Live

Although the Easties' games won't be played locally here in Connecticut, you can still grab the team's action live.

The Cooperstown Dream Parks runs an online live streaming video service Dreams Park TV.

The channel will be showing two Stingers games live:

  • Monday at 1:45 p.m. vs Minneapolis Millers
  • Tuesday at 11 a.m. vs Bayou Bombers

WE THE PEOPLE have no say in how governments govern nor how OUR money is spent. WE supposedly electRead More people who take the trust of the people with them when elected and do the will of WE THE PEOPLE. This has never happened. Especially in state and federal office. Once in office the power they discover they now have pushes aside the will of the people. It an attitude of we have the power and you don't. Someday, but I doubt it, we can elect those who will not loose site of why they were elected.

Beth - I am sorry to hear about your disappointment and I'll try to explain a few of your points.Read More First, Patch is a community forum as well as a news source. We have been looking for sports-minded folks to blog for us and keep us informed about events such as the softball team's state playoffs. We don't have a sports editor to cover just sports for the town so we rely on folks in the community to help us all stay informed. Many Patch sites have a sports blogger who reports on sports. Anyone interested?? In regard to the accident on No. High Street, you are correct in the fact that minimal information was reported and there was a reason for that - because minimal information was released to the press. We asked, we didn't get answers. And with our new format, there are 'bugs' in the system which are being worked out, so we apologize for all of them ahead of time, especially when links don't work or when spacing is off. It's frustrating, I understand. Please continue to support the EH Patch.
