Names: Twins Areona and Naveah Henderson

Age: 8

School: Deer Run Elementary School

Activities: Both girls enjoy drawing and reading, play basketball and kickball, and love to cook with their mother, Dawn Henderson.

Other Interests: “The girls have been dancing for five years and just received their 5-year dance awards,” said Dawn. She added that both girls are very artistic and have each received MVP awards from school for being a “Most Valuable Person.”

Key to Awesomeness: “They are very respectful children who are kind and caring to their classmates, teachers and other adults at school,” said Deer Run Principal Bill Grimm, who nominated the girls for East Haven Whiz Kids. “They always meet academic expectations as well as follow the school’s themes of being nice and doing their best.”

Dawn said that awesomeness in her girls comes from their caring and loving ways. Areona and Naveah are smart and funny and always thinking of others, said mom, adding that they love to help out their 3-year-old brother, Jeymin, and take time out to care for the family’s two dogs.

Future Plans: Areona and Naveah plan on becoming nurses when they grow up because they love to help people.
