[UPDATED] East Haven Athelete Voted 'Star of the Day'

East Haven High School girls softball team's McKenzie Miessau was one of three student athletes nominated as The New Haven Register's 'Star of the Day' for Wednesday.

Well, : It looks as though your mouse clicks and laptop taps did the trick — as the girls softball team's McKenzie Miessau earns the honor of being named The New Haven Register's 'Star of the Day' for Wednesday.

After beginning the morning in third place — with less than 20 percent of the total vote — voting for McKenzie took off throughout Thursday afternoon and early evening, leading to the softball standout the mantel of "Star of the Day."

McKenzie finished with just over 57 percent of the total vote, with the second place finisher at 37 percent and third place slightly more than 5 percent.

An student athlete McKenzie Miessau's strong performance Wednesday has led the softball player to be nominated for the New Haven Register's "Star of the Day" online poll — and she needs your vote to win!

According to The Register, Miessau's pinch-hit single drove in the winning run during East Haven's 3-2 upset win over Jonathan Law High School in the SCC tournament quarterfinals Wednesday in Milford.

As of 11 a.m., Miessau is currently in third place in the poll, with 17.86 percent of the vote.

So, let's get those computer mice clicking and those laptop touch pads ticking, and help McKenzie come out on top as the Star of the Day!
