Debbi and "Gio" Giordano are Travis' proud parents. He has a younger brother, Lucas, who loves and idolizes him. Last Friday, Travis attended his brother’s Stepping Up ceremony and after-party at Tuttle. Travis danced the afternoon away and mingled with his brother’s friends.

Travis was nominated a Whiz Kid by his teachers Denise Serio and Patricia Scalesse. Together, Serio and Scalesse collaborated to say wonderful things about Travis. They agreed that their student has an "open personality" and is friendly to "everyone he meets." He exemplifies the pillars of character and inspires others.

Activities: Travis enjoys playing Wiffle Ball and is a member of the JMMS Drama Club. Last year he participated in the production of "The Outsiders," and this year had quite an experience in "The Calamityville Terror." Travis also loves his pet cats whose names are Tinkerbelle, Cheddar and Gizabella.

Other Interests: In his spare time, Travis is an avid player of video games, and likes to swim for exercise. “Not only is his favorite movie ‘Cats’, he has seen the play five times," said his mom. “He watches the video at least twice every day." He also loves music. Travis is a member of the JMMS choir. "He has choreographed his own moves and during choir performances," his mom said. "He is the only student who is allowed to dance around when everyone else is required to be still. He has always had a way of stealing the show.”

Future Plans: Next fall, Travis will attend East Haven High School. After he graduates, he plans to go to college and one day becoming an astronaut.

Accomplishments: As a graduating eighth-grader, Travis is the recipient of an Excellence in Science award, which is his favorite subject in school. During the academic year he also received an award as a team achiever. At the eighth-grade award ceremonies last week, Travis was bestowed a great honor.  He was awarded in all six categories as a Pillar student for consistently demonstrating the qualities of fairness, caring, respect, responsibility, trustworthiness and citizenship. Most students fall into only one of these categories, but Travis has them all. He is also an honor student and received an award for these accomplishments, having made honors and high honors the entire academic year at JMMS.

Key to Awesomeness: "Travis has the ability to turn a room into his own," Debbi said of her son.

I personally have known him for many years, and can attest to that. Last year at our Date Night at Tuttle School, Travis wowed all of the moms by asking us to dance to the Italian music we played during dinner. I have to say, he can spin a lady very well on the dance floor.

Debbi told Patch: “I have learned not to put limitations on my son; he surprises me and blows me away every day in every single way.”
