Thousands of Bees Swarm East Haven's St. Vincent de Paul School

Experts had to be called in after 20,000 bees were found swarming around the East Haven Catholic school Thursday.

Experts were called in Thursday at East Haven's St. Vincent de Paul School after thousands of bees were found swarming around the outside of the school.

On Thursday, thousands of bees were found swarming around the Catholic school, which serves pre-kindergarten to eighth-grade students, according to WTNH. Experts were called in, where a hive of 20,000 bees was discovered, according to the news site.

Bee keepers did manage to get rid of the bees, according to WTNH. And while the bees would not go out of their way to sting anyone, they would if provoked, according to the news site.

"They can be dangerous. If you get near them and if a child would do something bold, they would get (stung) and if they had an allergic reaction to it, it wouldn't be good," Bill Hesbach, a beekeeper at Bee Keeper Wingdance, told WTNH.
