School Board Budget Public Hearing Rescheduled for April 22

The meeting will now be held next week. The hearing on the town side of the proposed budget, however, will still take place Wednesday.

The East Haven Town Council has cancelled and rescheduled Tuesday night's public hearing on the proposed 2013-14 Board of Education budget.

The new meeting date and time will be Monday, April 22, beginning at 7 p.m. at the East Haven Senior Center.

The public hearing on the town side of the proposed 2013-14 budget, however, will still be held this Wednesday, April 17 at 7 p.m. at the senior center.

The agenda for both upcoming hearings, as well as the cancellation notice for Tuesday's meeting, have been attached to this post. (Note: Due to a temporary uploading issue, the agenda's have not yet been attached. But will be as soon as possible.)

Earlier this month — after being "contacted by numerous residents with concerns" about the level of funding for the schools — Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr submitted a revised proposed 2013-14 budget that calls for a $900,000 increase in education spending.

Maturo's revised BOE budget calls for total education funding of $45.2 million — an increase of $900,224 from the $44,310,133 in the current budget. Of the $45.2 million, $19,253,992 is expected to come from the state in the form of ECS funding, according to the Mayor's Office.
