First-Ever Student Film Extravaganza at EHHS

Come to the high school June 14 to see original film and video produced by students -- and it's FREE!

It's free, fun and original. Come to the East Haven High School (EHHS) Media Club's first-ever Student Film Extravaganza.

The screening and extravaganza will take place in room S106 at the high school on Friday, June 14 at 7pm.

The event will showcase several award-winning films, documentaries and stop motion projects, including student work produced for video classes over the past two years.

"The students and I can't wait to share their amazing video creations with a live audience," said Jay Miles, Tech Ed/Media instructor. "We've put together an exciting and varied line up of original student films including several award winners. I know several EHHS Media Club alums have RSVP'd and we hope you can join us!"

The event is free and open to the public. Snacks will be sold to raise funds for the Media Club to aid in the production of future films.

The EHHS Media Club is a student organization that meets weekly and explores various media projects, including the production of an original short film for the 84 Hr Film Challenge.

The yearly 84HFC challenges high school students in Connecticut to complete an entirely original film (script, shots, edits, music, etc.) in one exhausting weekend. East Haven has submitted four such films to the challenge, sponsored by Education Connection, with all four competing against other entries at the CT Student FIlm Festival held each spring.

Two EHHS films, 'The Vial Truth' and 'Quest of a Commoner' have received first place awards in the Outstanding Fictional Short category.
