Living in Elegant New Haven

Photographer and history buff  Bill Conway will present a slideshow of rarely seen images of some of New Haven’s finest residences designed by Alice Washburn and other notable architects.

Alice Washburn lacked formal training in architecture and business when she began building homes just after World War I. She did, however have a daring determination and an unerring sense of taste that made her a sought-after builder of almost ninety homes between 1919 and 1933. Come take a peek at some of these rarely seen slides.

This presentation is free and open to everyone. Please register ahead by going to the library website www.hagamanlibrary.info and click on “Events.” You may also call to register at 203-468-3890.
