A Trip Down the Appalachian Trail at the Library

Alex Bigler hiked the entire 2,179 mile long Appalachian Trail in six months, finishing on October 14th, 2010. She encountered snowstorms, waist deep mud, raging rivers, bears, blisters, hunger, dehydration, exhaustion, and moose while meeting people with names like Thor, Turtle, Pop Tart, Hazzard, and Mohawk.  Needless to say, she had the time of her life. Alex will show photos of her trip and describe her experiences throughout the many months of her hike.

Before her hike, Alex graduated Gettysburg College with a B.A. in environmental studies and anthropology. She worked at the Yale Law School and Trailblazer, travelled in Israel, and she is a published author in the field of geography.  She enjoys reading ,baking, travelling, and The Beatles.
