East Haven Varsity Hockey Team Assists with Cosey Beach Cleanup

Team members take part in recent beach cleanup as part of community service effort.

East Haven Varsity Hockey Team spent the day cleaning the west end of Cosey Beach Avenue on Saturday, Oct. 8.

The players cleaned debris left behind from Tropical Storm Irene. And also cleared trash from the marsh and residences property.

Volunteers said the day would not have been possible without the suggestion of the project from one of the team's hockey parents, Paul Montesanto, the cooperation of head coach Lou Pane, the players' parents and the East Haven Public Works Department, which supplied all the tools necessary to complete the job.

Organizers of the cleanup told Patch team members "couldn't believe all the devastation and garbage they saw, and were glad to help the residents of Cosey Beach."

Also, many neighbors came by throughout the day and thanked the team for their help.
