UPDATE: East Haven Schools Reopen Thursday; BOE Shortens February Break

East Haven Public Schools are set to reopen tomorrow with a 90-minute delay. But the Board of Education voted Wednesday night to cut short next week's winter recess.

Update at 8:15 p.m.

The East Haven Board of Education votes to approve holding classes next Wednesday to Friday, Feb. 20-22, cutting the district's regularly scheduled February break short by three days.

Students and staff had been scheduled to have the entire week off from Feb. 18 to Feb. 22.

But now, after losing several more school days due to last weekend's historic blizzard — as well as Hurricane Sandy and other storms this school year — district officials have decided to cut winter recess short to make up for all the lost time.

This means both Monday and Tuesday will still be vacation days for the district, but students will return to school on Wednesday and then classes continue through to Friday.

Original Post

It's official: East Haven Public School students will return to class on Thursday — but with a 90-minute delay.

The district has been out of session since last Friday, when the now-historic Blizzard of 2013 dumped some three feet of snow on the town, and much of the rest of the state.

East Haven is expected to be impacted by another winter storm overnight, although the area is forecast to only receive about an inch or so of new snow into early Thursday morning.
