East Haven Schools' Opening Day is Aug. 29 (DOCS)

East Haven Public School's academic calendar for the upcoming 2012-13 school year has been released.

have posted the academic calendar for the 2012-2013 school year.

And the first day of school for students this year is Aug. 29. The last day of school, as the calendar now stands, is June 17.

The opening day of school next month will also be the first time kindergarten through 8th grade students are that adheres to a strict dress code.

The district's academic calendar and dress code guide brocuhure are posted in the gallery that accompanies this article. Both can be printed out for future reference.

Important calendar dates are as follows:

  • Sept. 3: Labor Day
  • Sept. 26: Professional Development Day, no school for students
  • Oct. 8: Columbus Day
  • Oct. 31: Early Discmissal, school improvement activity
  • Nov. 6: Election Day, Professional Development Day, no school for students
  • Nov. 12: Veterans Day
  • Nov. 14: Early dismissal for the high school, parent conferences
  • Nov. 19-20: Early dismissal for middle school, parent conferences
  • Nov. 21: Early dismissal
  • Nov. 22-23: Thanksgiving Break
  • Dec. 12-12: Early Dismissal elementary schools, parent conferences
  • Dec. 21: Early dismissal
  • Dec. 24-31: December break
  • Jan. 1: New Year's Day holiday
  • Jan. 21: Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
  • Jan. 30: Professional Development Day, no school for students
  • Feb. 18-22: Winter Recess (President's Day is Feb. 18)
  • March 29: Good Friday holiday
  • April 11: Early dismissal high school, parent conferences
  • April 15-19: Spring Recess
  • May 22: Professional Development Day, no school for students
  • May 27: Memorial Day
