East Haven Schools Appoints New Special Education Director

The East Haven Board of Education has hired Roberta Wezenski, who comes from Canterbury Public Schools, as its new director of pupil services.

Update on Thursday at 12:45 p.m.

Wezenski called and left a message with East Haven Patch first thing Thursday morning.

In it, the district's new director of pupil services said she'll be starting at her new post here in East Haven next month.

The Board of Education has appointed Roberta Wezenski as the district's new director of pupil services. The director manages the school system's special education program.

Wezenski, a Killingworth resident, will replace East Haven's former longtime director Mary Acquarulo who is retiring.

The school board unanimously approved the new hire at its regularly scheduled meeting on June 26.

Wezenski has been serving as the special education director for Dr. Helen Baldwin Middle School since April 2010.

The middle school is part of the Canterbury Public School System.

According to a Canterbury town newsletter from May 2010, Wezenski previously served as the assistant principal of The Children‘s Home as well as the pupil services director at the Portland Public Schools.

She has a bachelor's of science degree with a concentration in special education and a master's of science degree with a concentration in learning disabilities.

Wezenski did not immediately return Tuesday afternoon calls for comment.
