East Haven Hosts Branford in Turkey Day Showdown

The Yellowjackets and Hornets will battle on the gridiron today at 10:30 a.m.

For East Haven and Branford, the Thanksgiving Day football game is as traditional as turkey and stuffing and with this showdown, the regular-season records go out the window as the teams battle it out on the field.

The East Haven Yellowjackets host the 2012 contest at East Haven High School at 10:30 a.m.

Under Head Coach Greg Volpe, who has been with the Yellowjackets for the past four years, East Haven opened the 2012 season with a 28-27 win but has not won another game since.

Branford, coached by Mike Tracy, also won its first game of the season – a 31-13 victory over Trumbull – before dropping its next two. The Hornets then won three in a row, topping Lyman Hall 43-12, taking a 47-13 win over Sheehan and beating Law 62-44. Branford lost its last three games leading into the regular-season finale.
