East Haven High Gets Rid Of Its Boys' Basketball Coach

On Monday, the school board denied an appeal by Jim Reynolds to get his job back, but Reynolds alleges he was let go because he cut the Board of Education chairman's son.

Monday night, the East Haven Board of Education denied an appeal by Jim Reynolds to get his job back coaching the high school boys' basketball team, after he went 15-65 in his four seasons with the squad.

The New Haven Register reports that Reynolds' contract was not renewed this year after East Haven High School Principal Vin DeNuzzo said there was "a lack of performance and there was a genuine lack of connectivity to the school with the student athletes." However, Reynolds alleged after the meeting that his contract was not renewed because he cut Board of Education Chairman Tom Hennessey's son from the team.

“I sincerely hope after seeing what I saw tonight that nothing happens to my three sons who are in the East Haven public school system,” Reynolds told the newspaper. “I’m worried that something like that could happen.”
