Come See 'The Energized Guyz' at Deer Run School Tonight

The free program teaches students to be more energy efficient.

From a press release sent by Energize Connecticut:

As part of a program series that teaches Connecticut students to be more energy efficient, parents and elementary school students are invited to enjoy a fun and educational live theatre performance by The Energized Guyz at Deer Run Elementary School in East Haven on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Co-sponsored by Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) and The United Illuminating Company (UI), The Energized Guyz is a multiplatform energy efficiency program featuring live, professional actors, classroom curriculum and homework assignments.  It teaches elementary students about energy and conservation, empowering them to take energy-saving actions at home and discuss energy issues with their families such as using compact fluorescent light bulbs and LEDs, turning off lights and electronics when leaving the room and how phantom power lurks in your home.

CL&P and UI are offering this comprehensive educational program free to 100 elementary schools in their service territories through the Energize Connecticut initiative and eesmarts™ energy education program, focused on energy efficiency and clean energy learning initiatives that are funded by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund and produced by The National Theatre for Children (NTC).

At the event, there also will be a lighting sale with reduced pricing offered by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, in addition to a Home Energy Solutions expert that can sign homeowners up for in-home energy-efficiency services and immediate savings.

All parents, families and students are encouraged to attend this free event.  Dinner will also be provided. For more information on the eesmarts program, including its professional development workshops for educators and the 2013 Student Contest, please visit www.eesmarts.com.
