Anthony DeBenedet, the 'Original'

This Whiz Kid has a tremendous desire to learn.

Anthony’s mom had asked him to find one word to describe himself. He responded: "Original."

Other Interests:  The 11-year-old enjoys reading, playing outdoors and collecting football cards when he isn’t spending family time. He also enjoys fishing.

Anthony was nominated  a Whiz Kid by his teacher John Clifford, or Big C, as the kids call him. Clifford had quite a bit to say about his Whiz student.

“Anthony has beaten some of the smartest students at Tuttle in an ‘Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader’ competition," said Clifford. "He has a tremendous desire to learn, is always reading and wanting to know more information.”

"He keeps me on my toes all of the time," Big C said jokingly. "He is such a ham and loves to entertain. His classmates just love him.”

Future Plans: Anthony wants to become a scientist or archeologist.

Accomplishments: Anthony is a straight ‘A’ student, and won a trophy in this year’s fishing derby in Guilford with the Boy Scouts of America.  He was a key player on an All-Star baseball team last year.

Key to Awesomeness:  Big C says one of Anthony’s keys to awesomeness is his parents because they are so involved in his activities in and out of school. When asked what Maria Bronson thought her son’s awesome key is, she replied: “I am blessed. I know when Anthony is sleeping his mind is still very busy.”

“Anthony is a very intelligent boy, who has a great sense of humor and the ability to comprehend adult situations," said dad, Michael Debenedet. "I find that pretty impressive for a boy his age."
