A Snow Day for East Haven Schools – in November

Yesterday's storm dropped plenty of snow on the town. And with slick and dangerous road conditions, school will be closed today, Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012.

It's starting to feel a little like summer vacation — minus the warmth, nice weather and beach days! With five days off due to Hurricane Sandy last week, students finally headed back to class on Monday.

But another storm, put a quick end to that with an unexpected amount of snow.

This will be the seventh day the school district has not had school in the last 10 days: five days were lost last week due to Sandy and one this week due to Election Day.

With buses sliding on slick streets yesterday afternoon and the snow accumulating through the frigid night, the East Haven School District closed schools today, Thursday, Nov. 8. (Don't forget to check out the great photos coming in of the shoreline's November Nor'easter snowscapes — and add your own, too!)

Tell us: Will you be digging out the snowpants, boots, gloves and hats to bundle up your kids like Ralphie's little brother in A Christmas Story so they can play in the snow?

Lots a cars parked on the side roads. They's a gonna be preventin' the plowboys from a cleaning up the roads. Peoples, git your dang cars off a the roads. Should aught to be a parking ban in place. Doz snowmobile boys musta been a itchin' at the bit to go a slippin' and a slindin' all over the place. Where's the police? Don't nobody have a lick of sense in a this here town? Lord help Us.

Can we please put Halloween to rest?? It's not going to happen. The kids will get over it. They are more resilient that parents give them credit for. And if you have kids that "demand" their candy, you have a bigger problem with them than just a candy issue.

It is sad that the Childen of East Haven will have to go without Halloween this year and I am calling on the powers that be to organize an event to allow the children to have a day all their own. If we can hold various fairs and events at the high school on short notice I believe that th children of the East Haven community should have a special event for them. https://www.facebook.com/?ref=tn_tnmn#!/ROBERTDHOFFforabetterEastHaven
