Remarkable Book Club Fall selection is "The Hobbit" & lots of other program news!

New Programs for Kids through Teens are coming this Fall at Hagaman Memorial Library.

A new season of children’s programs at the library in East Haven is already underway, with “Preschool Play Group” meeting every Monday at 10am, “Tales & Tunes” story and craft time for age 2.5 to 5 meeting every Wednesday at 10:30am, and “Mother Goose on the Loose”, the musical rhythm and rhyme time for babies and toddlers meeting on Thursdays at 10:30am. The monthly bedtime story program moves to the last Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm starting in October.

In addition to these ongoing programs that meet throughout the school year, several new programs have been added starting in October:

Thursday, October 4 at 3:30pm the library is launching its “First Thursday After School Club”. This new monthly event for children from age 5-11 will be meeting monthly. In October, it’s time to “Make your own Mask”. Activities will range from crafts to game days, science programs, drama, magic, and other special events. Check the library website regularly.

“Teens take over Tuesdays” starts October 2 at 6pm. The first week of the month features a variety of craft projects. The second Tuesday is Game Night including PS3 Move games on the big screen. Starting on Tuesday, October 23, the newly formed “Remarkable Book Club” will begin its discussion of the J.R.R. Tolkien classic, “The Hobbit”. The discussion group will also meet on Tuesday, November 20 and will culminate with a Hobbit-themed Costume Party on December 18. Teens attending the book discussions earn one raffle ticket for each session, with a chance to win two tickets to the 3D film coming out in December.

Friday, October 12 at 6:30pm brings “Hunger Games Trivia Night” for teen girls to Hagaman Library. This “Fab Friday” event is sponsored by Girl Scouts and Connecticut Humanities.

Saturday, October 20 at 2:30pm, kids of all ages and their families are sure to enjoy the “Spooky, Silly Sing-along with Nappy’s Puppets”, a hilarious afternoon of fun and surprises.

How come the details of this tragedy are not reported? The road was shutdown for five hours! I heardRead More the contractor moved the lines in the road to avoid the secret military plumbing project and didn't post signs to alert drivers.
