Create your own Graphic Novel - A Workshop for Teens and Pre-teens

Have you ever wondered what it would take to create your own Graphic Novel? Get started at Hagaman Library! Sign up for the free two-part workshop in October.

We used to call them comic books before they grew into full length graphic novels. Have you ever wondered what it would take to create your own? Well, here is your chance to find out! East Haven teacher Christopher Brown will show us some of the basics of visual storytelling, character creation and cartooning in a two-part workshop you will not want to miss.

Saturday, October 15 at 1pm
Part One: Investigate! Analyze several styles of graphic novels to determine what makes them successful.

Saturday, October 22 at 1pm
Part Two: Create! Generate ideas, plan your characters, write and draw the first panels of your own graphic novel.

Sponsored by the Connecticut Humanities Council, the workshop is designed for pre-teens and teens. It will take place at Hagaman Memorial Library, 227 Main Street, East Haven, CT. There is no charge, but space is limited and registration is required. Call today: 203-468-3890 or register online: www.hagamanlibrary.info and click on the Events tab.

The library has multiple copies of Ultimate Spider-Man: Volume One and Batman: Year One, along with many other titles, to check out as inspiration. Start imagining your own story, characters and style.

This program is sponsored by Connecticut Humanities Council's Book Voyagers initiative and is offered free of charge to all. Recommended for age 11 & up.
