Deceit and prejudice are not good qualities for a leader to utilize to build a better community that is inclusive of all residents, yet that is exactly what Mayor Joe Maturo has done since he was sworn into office, bringing disgrace to the reputation of East Haven as he continues to soil the reputation of the once-shining star of the shoreline.
He has done so first with his very demeaning and prejudicial actions toward those in the Latino community and now for taking credit for improving accessibility for East Haven's disabled residents when in reality it has been the chairman and members of the American Disability Act Committee (ADAC) who have worked tirelessly to rejuvenate that which under Mayor Maturo's previous tenure existed in name only.
Through its dedication and actions, the ADAC (led by Chairman Robert D. Hoff) has worked hard to advance accessibility for disabled residents of East Haven.
Chairman Hoff has worked hard to ensure the town is compliant with the Federal American Disability Act and Mayor Maturo has taken advantage of the efforts of the ADAC while raising taxes on disabled residents and assuming credit for projects that would not have seen the light of day if not for the actions of ADAC and Chairman Robert D. Hoff.
Mr. Hoff puts people before politics. The mayor and his staff need to give credit where credit is due.
