I live in the 3rd district and wouldn't vote for u if you were the only one running. McCann exposed you for what you are. An angry man with a violent temper. Even your father told the officer that. No thanks!!!!
DonnaR January 25, 2013 at 05:56 pm
By you ivanna and all the others who actually pay taxes.
melinda tillie January 25, 2013 at 06:01 pm
If all you folks dislike Mr. Hoff for one reason or the other, vote for another candidate! As someone who has had Epilepsy for 60 years I worked very hard my whole life at some jobs that were strenuos. It has been hard to work with Epilepsy.as for years it was not accepted and neither was the person that had it.
DonnaR January 25, 2013 at 06:01 pm
Lets take this in another direction. How would you address the financial issues Facing our town.
Richard Poulton January 25, 2013 at 06:21 pm
I just want to quickly jump in and then jump back out, but ask one thing first: All of these medical issues you have are controlled these days by drugs are they not. Low back issues are also controlled by various stretching methods. I have 2 extremely buldging disc, and 3 degenerative disc, I can work - play golf, just have to watch what I lift and how I do it. So, again why haven't you worked all these years when thousends I am sure with your same situation still can and do.. Or you just prefer to be on the" rolls" so to speak. Bye bye.
Richard Poulton January 25, 2013 at 07:13 pm
I'm sorry, forgot 2 others things I wanted to mention. PTSD! How did that come about Robert? Did a quick tour in a war zone did you or living in that high crime area of Foxon. Anziety? Whats that from? Got the answer to both for you. That little confrontation with a certain Senator who made you feel threatened and now you have PTSD and anxiety.
DonnaR,
First thank you for taking the time to ask the question. There is really no easy solution to this problem and it involves many aspects. The first is I would meet with the Director of Finance to see exactly where to the penny the Town's Finances stood ...Then I would meet with the Mayor to get his perspective on the situation and then I would hold an informational meeting with the residents of my district and get their feelings on the situation and their input as it is their money being spent and it is only right that as their representive that make sure their voices were heard loud and clear. I would not simply rush into a decision that would cost the loss of services or programs that residents need nor would I allow the residents to be bullied into paying more in taxes for programs that after meeting with all three groups and doinng research were not needed when the tax dollars could be better spent in other places. The residents voices must be heard loud and clear as the bottom line is,..it's their money.
For those readers who may be unfamiliar with why Mr Poulton seems to be playing political games intead of asking intelligent questions of benefit to to readers I found something that may explain it:The East Haven Republican Party held its caucus for Town Committee membership on Jan. 16 for the 2012-2014 term.
The new town committee is as follows: Second District •Peter Cianelli •Sue Colangelo •Ann DellaCamera •Arthur DeSorbo •Robert Falcigno •Ronald Ferraiolo •Richard Poulton •Vincent Mauro •Salvatore Maltese •Brian Savo •Michael Enders •Vincent Arpino •Joseph Zullo You'll notice that Mr Poulton is a card carrying member of the Republican Town Committee and is playing political games that place politics ahead of the residents of the town this is not a game that I choose to engage in as I firmly believe that people should be placed before politics.
DonnaR January 25, 2013 at 10:11 pm
Well Robert you should be doing all of those things now. I regularly review spending in the town and have come to belive it is the entitlements that are killing us Medical plans that are out of sinc with those of us who are not employed by government, Mandates from State and Fed. For programs that serve a select few. Retirement payouts and Pensions that are well above what those who did not work in government are all part of the problem. I would suggest that you investigate these and let me know what you find.
Ivanna,
Just to quote a friend of your on the educational sysytem which I think you may find interesting and of use: Dan McCann Posted on September 29, 2012 at 9:00 am Maybe we just need a common sense approach to fix common sense problems. Well, if that is the qualification then we certainly have something wrong with our college system because the last two Presidents of the United States came from Yale and Harvard and just look how screwed up the country is. Millions of jobs lost, an economy that can’t get going, taxes out of control and leadership that has failed on every level both Democrat and Republican.
DonnaR,
I agree with you there are programs that are out of hand that need looking into not just on the local level but the state and federal level as well. I believe that certain Perks or entitlements given to those employeed by the government are out of line and if we eliminated some of those programs such as chauffers for state politicans the state could save money and use it in more effective ways such as reducing the defecit and helping those who need it most.
Ivanna D. Truth January 25, 2013 at 10:56 pm
Actually Hoff, I am not friends nor have I met Mr McCann. However, as with Mr Poulton I do not always agree with him, but I do respect him. Especially the way he.proved.to everyone how deceptive and dishonest you were. He delivered what he said, played along with your attempts at playing word games. As far as your comment, i see no relation of his post to my comment. You have no job, recieve an entitlement because you claim you can't work, yet blog and volunteer all these hours and we as taxpayers are expected to pay for you to go to school. Your out of pocket comment was funny as well, try paying the creditor you burned.
Ivanna,
Libelous you mean like putting a false claim in writing like Gene is my handler?
DonnaR January 25, 2013 at 11:10 pm
On the fed level let's stop all funding to Non profits, their Admin salaries are way out of wack and they serve very few. Funding to institutions such as Yale Harvard and many more. But let's stay local. Did we really need to spend on a sand chair for the beach or the lift at a pool, how many use that. A electric car charging station at town hall. Do you know what the percent of the town and BOE budgets are spent on pensions, Medical Insurance. When you do we can have a conversation.
DonnaR January 25, 2013 at 11:14 pm
As for the people having a say. Until we change the Charter and give the voters the right to accept or reject a budget, the people will not have a say.
Ivanna D. Truth January 25, 2013 at 11:36 pm
Aw did you complain again.
Richard Poulton January 26, 2013 at 12:34 am
Wow BOB, yes you BOB, you printed the members of the RTC from the 2nd District. What a guy. Now print out the names of those from the 3rd District, Democratic side. Gee, BOB your name is there. So what.
I'm sorry, your name is Robert, my mistake.
Donna R,
Yes as a matter of fact in order to comply with the Federal Americans With Disabilities Act the Lift at the pool was needed to make the pool accesssible to residents with disabilites as was the WheelChair on the beach to increase accessibility for residents with disabilities. The People have a say it's called voting Donna and it takes place in East Haven every two years for Mayor and other elected positions . They also have a say in the case of referendum and public hearings. I'm willing to work with the residents to make sure their needs and concerns are put in the front and political gamesmanship in the back. The residents in this town must come first and that includes Democrats,Republicans,Independents they must get the maximumn return for their hard earned dollar and not be pushed to the back of the pack. For a town to run a surplus that means they have extra money left over that could have been used to address the concerns of the residents and improve the quality of life of residents living within the town.
Ann Della Camera January 26, 2013 at 05:02 am
Robert Hoff, Printing my name and the others was way out of line as to RTC members. I am not ashamed I am a member, but I am there to help make my town a better place to live. I am not sitting in a chair whinning disability and milking the system as you are. Reading what you yourself said that you do, tells me your a lazy person and now you want my tax dollar to send you to school too. You claim all is volunteer, but it makes me wonder ,, HOW ARE THE TIPS,/GRATITUTIES, for what you claim you do. I have family and friends in a lot worst shape than you are but they have pride and still go to work. I care about my town and State, and hopefully they soon catch up with so called disability users like you. Now think twice before you decide to name people on here, because, I am going to now request your collecting disability investigated.
Ann Della Camera January 26, 2013 at 05:05 am
melinda, Pat yourself on the back for having such PRIDE!!!! You make me feel there is a good world out there.
Lots of Questions January 26, 2013 at 05:33 am
Robert...I have many questions I would like you to answer as a candidate in the 3rd District.
1) As a candidate what will you do to stop the Our Lady of Pompei Carnival that absorbs many of our tax dollars with Police Overtime, FD Overtime and makes a profit for the anti-homosexual Catholic Church? 2) Robert I see you are an animal lover as I am too. I know that my animal exhibits unconditional love as I also do. Just as with same-sex marriage took time to gain favor in our society how do you feel as a candidate about marriage between man/woman and their pets and would you be willing to propose a local law to challenge state laws that are anti-pet/man/woman marriage? 3) As a candidate what are your feelings about the recent district change and the northern part of East Haven now being represented by a person from New Haven? How will you reach out to him to help with questions 1 & 2? 4) Mr. McCann just started the new East Haven Independent Party and is saying that part of that platform will be to seek cross-endorsed candidates. If that party was to seek cross endorsement in your district would you seek it? 5) You have said that you are a firm believer in ADA compliance. How much of the East Haven Budget will you dedicate to securing that every project is completed 100% up to your satisfaction. 6) What are your beliefs on the excessive use of police services for repeat callers?. Do you think a person should be charged for "silly calls"?
Lots of Questions January 26, 2013 at 05:48 am
7) In the 3rd District there are lots of empty store fronts that will never be opened again. I would like to see the old A&P center knocked down and an entertainment center in it's place mainly with a roller coaster as the center place. What is your opinion and what efforts will you give to the idea.
8) Lately on RT 80 I have a hard time crossing the street because I am also handicapped. I'd like to see a regular assigned police officer from a sub station on RT 80 to help me cross the street. What resources will you commit to this effort and what is your opinion? 9) Many people have made it a point to point out your short comings on this board. What legislation on censorship of electronic print can you propose to limit them and others? 10) Mayor Bloomberg in NYC wants to stop consumption of soda drinks over 16oz. What is your opinion and will you favor this for East Haven businesses?
Lots of Questions January 26, 2013 at 05:58 am
11) All politicians have great aspirations. What are yours? Would you ever want to seek the office of Mayor/ State Representative or higher office?
12) It was said on this board with all of your past police incidents that you should return the 2011 Merit Award. Tell us why you should keep it. 13) Please explain your relationship with your house guest and why there is domestic violence in your home? 14) If you could have answered the questions about your arrests differently would you? Do you have any regrets for the deceptive display that you demonstrated on these boards when you were asked about your police record? 15) You accumulated some recent debts that you have been sued for. If you are elected will you commit to repaying those debts? 16) If you were to win a council seat would you seek Chairman if your party was the top seat winner?
Kevin Dacey January 26, 2013 at 04:08 pm
OLOP pays a hefty bill for police and fire coverage at carnival....the town adds an administration fee also...so the town actually makes money
Not Guido January 26, 2013 at 04:36 pm
Robert, you list registered organ donor among accomplishments. Wouldn't you have to actually donate an organ for this to be an accomplishment? How would you feel if your demise coincided with your arch-enemy needing and potentially receiving one of your organs?
Charles January 26, 2013 at 09:17 pm
There is NO COST to the church or the town for the service of the Fire Dept at the carnival, The stand by is and has always been done Volunteer co # 3 and at the other church carnivals it is done by the volunteer companys that serve that district.
Norm Brody January 27, 2013 at 12:58 am
Wow, just when I thought I knew about all the issues before the town council, I learn about human/pet marriage. Who knew? Addressing this will really put the town of East Haven on the map!
Richard Poulton January 27, 2013 at 02:22 pm
Slow morning so I re-read this article and comments and want to add this little tid-bit of info: First, I am glad Robert is an organ donor, we all should be if doesn't infringe on a certain belief. But Robert also made referrence that he suffers from PTSD and has a lot of stress in his life. Which leads me to ask Robert in regards to being a donor, since you suffer from Diabetes have you taken any Bovine injections since 1980. If so, you can not donate an organ. As to your Epilepsy, yes, as long as you have not had an "incident" in the past 3 years. So, due to your PTSD and stress did you remember these when indicating your desire to be a donor? So if you had such an incident within 3 years, and God forbit you pass away, and the donor card is found, you would be possible causing further harm to the person getting any of your organs. You may want to re-think this. But like I first said, this is a good thing as long as there are no issues to deal with.
And yes I am a registered donor. Illness free thank you.
Not Guido January 27, 2013 at 10:30 pm
Hoff not answering all these questions. He must still be woozy from donating blood.
Roy G January 30, 2013 at 01:31 am
As Mr Poulton noted, it's nice to re-read some entertaining (sometimes enterwining) comments and new observations come to light. JAN 24, 1:00 PM and an enthusiastic launch br Mr Hoff proudly listing the qualifications and accomplishments to commence a higher service to the community.... and it took all of 27 hours to (4:47 on Jan. 25) resort to full-fledged political mud-slinging and post the RTC members list and assail the same Mr Poulton of political games!!! BTW, until that posting Mr Poultons two comments did not contain a single political sentiment. Just saying....

I had family visit from out of town to attend a Little League game down by the beach. They justRead More loved the entire area, especially the splash pad and the Sandpiper. Gov. O'mally is ruining this State by driving more and more people into poverty, giving illegalsRead More drivers licenses, letting criminals out of jail early, pushing good companies out, and making it's citizens unsafe. Time to clean house starting locally!
Richard Poulton June 11, 2013 at 10:19 am
WE THE PEOPLE have no say in how governments govern nor how OUR money is spent. WE supposedly electRead More people who take the trust of the people with them when elected and do the will of WE THE PEOPLE. This has never happened. Especially in state and federal office. Once in office the power they discover they now have pushes aside the will of the people. It an attitude of we have the power and you don't. Someday, but I doubt it, we can elect those who will not loose site of why they were elected.
