Hurricane Sandy tests East Haven Residents resolve

East Haven High School provides Shelter from the Storm.

I would like to Thank East Haven State Representative James Albis for accompanying me to the East Haven High School to visit with our fellow residents who were seeking shelter from the wrath of Hurricane Sandy in the solace of the shelter created at The East Haven High School.

While there I discovered that East Haven Residents were allowed to bring with them to the shelter their family pets as long as they were in carriers and residents brought their pet food with them.

Their are activities for the children and a Television tuned to the weather channel to keep shelter residents informed of the changing conditions and provide them with up to the minute news.

Shelter residents are also provided Hot Showers and Free Hot meals such as Sunday night the shelter ordered 15 Pizzas for those in the shelter and for lunch today the temporary residents were treated to hotdogs,Hamburgers, and grilled cheese along with french fries and beverages.

The Shelter has 150 cots so there is plenty of room for residents who are seeking safety from the storm. I encourage all shoreline residents to not remain home but head to the shelter and be safe and protected from Hurricane Sandy.
