Elderly and Disabled van parked for six months while taxes are increased!!

The continuing quest to find solutions that will help improve the quality of life in East Haven for our Seniors and Disabled residents through the use of positive discussion.

We have opened the door to communication in previous blogs and therefore this blog will not be about placing blame instead it will be about finding results to another problem that exists here in East Haven that effects those in our elderly and disabled communities.

The problem is that a van that is used to transport our elderly and disabled residents is sitting down behind the East Haven Police Department where it's former driver parked it six months ago and where it still sits empty with grass and weeds growing up around it.

The Lions Club,The Capone Family and other civic minded organizations and residents such as James Krebs were involved in obtaining the vehicle and making sure it was equipped with a GPS to safely bring it's passenger to much needed medical appointments.

I have to ask then why does this vehicle now sit in the same spot where it has been located for the last six months?...In a population as large as East Haven's is there not a few good men or women who are qualified to operate this vehicle and help bring the elderly and disabled residents of East Haven to their much needed medical appointments?

This appears to me to be a clear cut case of Taxes were increased but services to the elderly and disabled are being cut and for what reason?

I firmly believe that if the town put the needed energy into recruiting drivers for this vehicle it would be a tremendous asset to the residents who are seeing a tax increase,..Living on fixed incomes and are dependent on transportation to their medical appointments.

Increased taxes, reduced services to the elderly and disabled its goes beyond just bad policy and politics when the elderly and disabled are forced to pay the price because the powers that be have reduced much needed services.
