East Haven Family Came Through

A letter from Phyllis Laroche, President East Haven Food Pantry

East Haven Family Came Through

I would like to personally thank Robert Hoff and his helpers for their food drive at Stop & Shop last month to benefit the East Haven Food Pantry. Once again, the East Haven family came through for our neighbors in need. Bob collected 15 carts of food and $500 in donations that will enable us to purchase what we need from the Connecticut Food Bank to help feed those in need in our town.

This summer was quite difficult for us as donations were down, but the need keeps increasing. The children were home from school and in need of three meals a day. Unemployment is still on the rise, while most food stamps have been reduced. And of course, our elderly are still trying to get by on Social Security benefits. We are still accepting donations of either food or monetary contributions at Christ and the Epiphany Church, 39 Park Place, every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
