Helping Our Neighbors in time of need.

On Saturday June Second despite the rainy weather and the odds being against us due to the rainy weather two friends of mine Pauline McGinnis of North Haven and Eileen Gallo of East Haven decided we would brave the inclement weather and put our best foot forward in hopes of achieving something positive which would be of a beneficial nature for the North Haven Community.

We gathered at the North Haven Stop & Shop on Washington Avenue and despite the cool, rainy weather we decided to go forward with holding a food drive to benefit The North Haven Food Bank and the residents of North Haven who utilize that particular food bank.

We had the chance to meet many of the residents of North Haven and swap stories but perhaps one of the most heartfelt stories that I was part of involved a North Haven resident who we asked if he wanted to donate to the food bank.

The gentleman told us he wished he was able to help but that he himself had been out of work for the last two years and wanted to know more about the services that the food bank provided.

After having a discussion with this gentleman we were able to identify that he was in fact a North Haven resident and that he would be able to utilize the North Haven Food Bank….

We informed him exactly where the North Haven Food Bank is located and how he could utilize it.

We collected a truck full of groceries for the food bank and despite the rainy weather manage to collect over $200.00 dollars to help the Food Bank purchase groceries and keep their shelves stocked which in turn will feed a lot of men, women and Children in the North Haven Community.

But for me I take a sense of pride away from the day and this event knowing that we made a difference in that one gentleman’s life and maybe just maybe because of the action we took today his world along with the other men, women and Children of the North Haven Community may be that much better.

I will be holding a Food Drive to benefit the East Haven Food Bank on August fourth and fifth from 9AM-3PM and I would love to see everyone come out and donate and help make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need.
