Be the Eyes and Ears of the Beach area and help disabled residents.

Bring your cellphone to the East Haven Beach and help residents with disabilites.

I was contacted this morning by a disabled resident who among many contact me and utilizes the East Haven Beach area. There is an ongoing problem down at the beach this year as in summers past and I am asking anyone who carries a cellphone with them to the beach area to help be the eyes and ears and help ensure that disabled residents get the parking spots that are designated disabled parking areas.

"robert twice that I went to tbe beach there is alway a town car its a white sedan with town marker plates parked in the handcap spaces write at the beach (the three right at the enterants) it sunday am and mon am. I dont know the name of the men. I think he is or was on the town concell. I can t walk very far so I like to just sit in my car and look at the water. All the other town cars and truck park on the street or in the lot. He is deffintly not handcaped is there any thing that you can do. I have had other poeple call town hall and they still park there. And to top it of sunday all he did was talk to the onther worker.he did do antthing at all."

If you carry a cell phone with you to the beach and see cars or other vehicles parked in the disabled parking areas that are not displaying the proper markers such as the blue and white handicapped parking signs that are commonly hung from the mirrors of vehicles.

Please Call The East Haven Police Department at 203-486-3820 and report to them with the type and color of car or vehicle occupying the spot and if possible a license plate number.

I have spoken with the police department this morning and they ensured me they patrol the area but do not have time to stop and check each vehicle. This is where you and I can be the eyes and ears and help ensure that there  is parking for disabled residents who wish to utilize the beach area.
