Are you safer now then you were in April 2011?

Do you feel safer now under the new Mayoral Administration and the change at the top of the Police Department then you did in April 2011 under former Mayor April Capone?

Sitting in my office just off of Rte 80 in East Haven on Saturday evening and listening to music I heard the sounds of police sirens in the early evening and upon returning home from church on Sunday I sat down before my computer and clicking through the East Haven Patch I discovered the following: East Haven police are searching for a suspect in the armed robbery Saturday night of the Citgo gas station at 925 Foxon Road, which is near another garage where police nabbed six individuals in February trying to pull off an early-morning car theft.

The New Haven Register reported that the new robbery took place around 8:45 p.m. at 925 Foxon Road. The robber, who was armed with a handgun, wore a dark hoodie and fled on foot from the gas station.

My question to my fellow residents is do you feel safer now under the new Mayoral Administration and the change at the top of the Police Department then you did in April 2011 under former Mayor April Capone?

There are those that will view this as a bashing of the new Mayoral Administration but I have lived close by to where both of the above mentioned events have taken place in the last two months.

Those living in the Foxon area I have to ask how safe do you feel? Do you feel as safe now as you did in April 2011? I have to admit after living nearby the scene of where these two crimes have taken place for over twenty years I for one feel less safe then I did just one year earlier.

As a disabled resident I face life with the daily challenge of facing my disabilities and creating a higher quality of life for myself and having neighbors who also have disabilities I would have to say that the recent event raises our level of alertness for what is taking place around us.

I would like to think the new Administration would make sure that there is a high level police presence in the area surrounding an area where two robberies have occurred in the last 2 months and has a park that children play at.

Yet this is untrue the only time we see a Patrol vehicle on the streets surrounding this area is when they quickly drive by at random times maybe once or twice a week or drive by on the other side of the road disregarding the park where the children play thus disregarding the safety of the neighborhood children, senior citizens and residents with disabilities.

As proof of the lack of any serious police presence I point to the above mentioned and simply shake my head in disbelief and ask do you feel safer then you did living in East Haven in April 2011?

This is not a political statement but rather a question of personal safety which effects the quality of life by East Haven residents living in the Foxon Area around Rte 80. I invite you to join me on Facebook at Robert D.Hoff for a better East Haven.

I agree Jack is a good man. He however needs to better explain his financial problems. ForeclosureRead More doesn't go forward due to a mistake. Stand up and tell the truth. If you fell behind and got back on track tell us.

Jack is a good and decent man, He would be an asset to this Town if Elected to serve as our Mayor.Read More With that said we look forward to a new beginning in East Haven, One that can set the path to a new vision for the Residents who live here now and the ones yet to come. Yes its easy to say I like Jack

Gene, Jack is your party's pick, so what else are you to say. As to Jack, if he is anything likeRead More his father he IS a good man. But being just a good man doesn't cut it in todays small world politics. Jack has issues he needs to explain and I am sure when he time comes he will. But as to this article, I wouldn't expect anything else from the SHADOW. Wouldn't want him backing me for anything.

I asked the question and you gave me the answer I was looking for, and I thank you for that. As toRead More the rest of your dribble, doesn't deserve a response for EVERYONR knows all about the true Gene aka ******** Ruocco.

Richard, the Mayor kicked the CEO of the company that had the contract out of his office less than aRead More month after he won the election. The contract was with the town not the BOE. And if you think the only thing to check is if the panels are dirty, then it isn't worth answering you. A large investment of tax dollars was made and it is paying off with lower electric bills. The systems delivering these savings need to be checked, that is why people who were smart enough to sign a maintenance agreement did just that. Ask the BOE how the chiller replacement is going at the High School; due to lack of maintenance they lost two chillers that should have lasted at least 10 to 15 more years. Penny wise and dollar foolish is what this is all about, not the election year, but what else could we expect from you Richard. You have become the cheer leader of the administration.

Boy, you just know it's an election year. Gene, one question, when was this contract stopped?Read More Just now or some time ago, but seeing its getting "close' to November you just thought you would bring this up. Besides, shouldn't your question be aimed at the B of E, not the Mayor. And what is to be maintained anyway beside washing the panals now and then? You just keep us all informed now Gene.
