In advance of Hurricane Sandy, the Town of East Haven has ordered a mandatory evacuation of all low-lying areas.
East Haven Fire Assistant Chief Chuck Licata told East Haven Patch Sunday evening that the list could be revised and expanded again Monday morning after officials get a better understanding of storm and how it will impact the shoreline, following tonight's high tide.

Residents who are ordered out of their homes, or who decide to voluntarily leave as a precautionary measure, can take refuge at the town's emergency shelter at East Haven High School.
