UPDATED: Streets Under East Haven's Mandatory Evacuation Orders for Hurricane Sandy

East Haven Fire officials released an updated list Sunday night of streets under a mandatory evacuation order due to the approach of Hurricane Sandy.

In advance of Hurricane Sandy, the Town of East Haven has ordered a mandatory evacuation of all low-lying areas.

East Haven Fire Assistant Chief Chuck Licata told East Haven Patch Sunday evening that the list could be revised and expanded again Monday morning after officials get a better understanding of storm and how it will impact the shoreline, following tonight's high tide.

Below is the fire department's updated evacuation list, which was posted on the town's website at 8 p.m. Sunday evening:

  • First Ave
  • Hampton Rd
  • Lower Hopson St
  • Jamaica Ct
  • 2 Meadow Place
  • 2,3,5 Mansfield Grove Rd
  • Meadow St
  • Minor Rd
  • Montuk St
  • Morgan Terr
  • Morgan Ave
  • North Atwater
  • Old Town Highway
  • Lower Palmetto Tr
  • Pequot St
  • Lower Phillip St
  • Seaview Ave
  • Second Ave
  • Sibley lane

Residents who are ordered out of their homes, or who decide to voluntarily leave as a precautionary measure, can take refuge at the town's emergency shelter at East Haven High School.

lost back of home tide came up toback door furnace under water water came in under sink for about 3 minnets came up in heating vents in back room so lost some carpet foundation damange bathroom floor buckled house smells bad i stayed when water was 6 inches from back door decided too vist frank at 30 wilkenda like too thank al labonte for checkin on me every chance he had while tryin too save his home and his rental units the surge was just too much i took some photos but at hight of storm it was pitch black moon behind clouds got photo on franks phone will email too me when power returns.2nd lost furnace in 14 months no damage previous 18 years at our atwater ext home hope everyone safe

does any one know if red cross will be coming too the east haven beach with the clean up pkgs like after last years storm
