New Town Board, Commission Appointments

East Haven Town Council members unanimously approved a slate of more than 30 new appointments at their regularly scheduled meeting last night.

The Town Council unanimously approved the slate of new appointments to various town boards and commissions at tonight's regularly scheduled meeting at the senior center.

The individual names of all newly appointed board members, as well as the length of their terms, can be found in the agenda posted in the gallery that accompanies this article.

That list is the same as the slate approved at tonight's meeting, with three exceptions:

  • Michael Tufano was temporarily removed as an appointment to the Americans with Disabilities Committee pending written notification.
  • Carmen Parlato was was temporarily removed as an appointment to the East Haven Housing Authority pending written notification
  • Bob Falaigno was added as an appointment to the Board of Assessment Appeals for a term that will run from Feb. 1, 2012 to Feb 1, 2013.

In addition, Town Council Chairman Richard Anania reported that the administration of Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr has decided to disband the Blight Assistance Committee. All blight related issues will now be directly forwarded to the town's zoning officer, Anania said.

More than 30 residents are expected to have their appointments to various of town boards and commissions approved at tonight's Town Council meeting.

Other Agenda Items

Other items on the agenda the council will consider include:

  • Authorizing Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr to with the state to obtain funds through the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program.
  • Fund transfers to cover unemployment compensation and legal fees/settlements
  • Approval to allow Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr to submit items on behalf of the town to the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security
  • Authorization to allow the mayor to sign a lease with the state on behalf of the town "for land abutting North High Street."
  • Endorsement of a SCROG proposal for an Inter-municipal Shared-Services Feasibility study.
  • Tax refunds to property owners
