Report: Former Police Chief Gallo Received $95,000 Retirement Payout

East Haven Police Chief Leonard Gallo topped the list of the town's recent retirement account payouts, according to a New Haven Register report.

When stepped down from his post the was in question. That no longer is the case.

Gallo received a payout of some $95,000 when he officially retired on Feb. 3, according to a New Haven Register report.

Gallo was one of the 19 former town employees that retired during the 2011-12 fiscal year, which runs from July 1 to June 30.

The retirement payments from the lump sum, salary and other accounts — which are in addition to the employees' annual pensions — totaled more than $683,000, according to town's 2011-12 retirement account ledger.

The Register's Jennifer Swift obtained and published the ledger through a Freedom of Information request.
