Albis Promoted to Assistant Majority Leader in General Assembly

State Rep. James Albis, an East Haven native, was also named the vice chairman of the Environment Committee, House Democrats announced Thursday.

The following is a press release from the Connecticut House Democrats.

State Representative James Albis (D-East Haven), elected to a second term in November, has been promoted by Speaker of the House-Designate Brendan Sharkey (D-Hamden) to serve as an Assistant Majority Leader and Vice Chairman of the Environment Committee.

As an Assistant Majority Leader, Rep. Albis will be working on developing and passing the 2013 legislative agenda.

The Environment Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to the Department of Environmental Protection, including conservation, recreation, pollution control, fisheries and game, state parks and forests, water resources and flood and erosion control; and all matters relating to the Department of Agriculture, including farming, dairy products and domestic animals.

"I am honored to be appointed an Assistant Majority Leader and Vice Chairman of the Environment Committee," Rep. Albis said. "The work of the Environment Committee is critical to coastal area issues, expanding open space and preserving our quality of life. I want to thank the residents of the 99th Assembly District for giving me the opportunity to again serve them."

Rep. Albis was also reappointed to the Finance Revenue and Bonding and Judiciary Committees.
