It's official: With President Barack Obama's acceptance speech in Charlotte Thursday night, both the Republicans and Democrats have formally chosen their nominees for the 2012 presidential election. Let the real race begin.
A lot can change between now and Nov. 6: Gaffes, scandals or even major international news events could shift the dynamics of the campaign.
The latest Gallup Polls show registered voters preferring Obama to Mitt Romney by just one percentage point, 47 percent to 46 percent. A USA Today/Gallup poll taken just before the party conventions found American voters think Obama is more likeable, but trust Romney more to handle the economy.
Pundits have been busy for months handicapping the major-party candidates on various factors: incumbent advantage, fundraising clout, even religion.

Copies of both the “short” and “long” certificates have been released and state officials in Hawaii have said repeatedly that Obama was born there in 1961 and is a “natural born American citizen.” -His baptism record. (He was baptized in 1988 in Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. Response One Everyone has a right to their opinion and to respectfully express their view. I am expressing mine here and it will take two posts. President Obama could have settled the issues surrounding his personal background once and for all by opening all his records. There are real, legitimate questions to be addressed. Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi changed her certification of Barrack Obama in the last election 24 hours after she signed and certified the official paper declaring him legally able to run for office. Both documents are certified and on record. The first declares he is a citizen and legally fulfills the requirements to run. That document was withdrawn by Pelosi and rewritten. She recertified him a day later removing the phrase that Barrack Obama was a “citizen.” Today it simply says he is “legally” able to run for President! This has NEVER been done before by any candidates for president. How did Obama travel and live in Pakistan (which he admits) during a period when it was illegal for American citizens to travel to that nation? He could have traveled if on a foreign passport. Otherwise, he broke American law if he was an American citizen. Am I wrong about that logic? I don't think so.
When Obama attended college at Occidental he "supposedly" was admitted as a foreign student and received foreign student assistance. To settle this he could have allowed the college to release his application to the school and redacted (blacked out) everything except the part showing he applied as an American citizen. He hid it and chose not to do so. This would have settled an issue that didn't exist for other presidents. This man has chosen proactively, over and over again, to avoid or hide what should be simple answers. No one, including the President, has been able to answer how or why he has a CT social security number when at the time those number he now possesses was reserved for those born in CT. His relative, an aunt I believe, worked in the Hawaii Social Security office. When a man with the President's social security number died in Hawaii with no family claiming social security benefits, Obama started using that number. That man was born in CT and had a legal CT social security number. The aunt had access to the numbers in her position. Obama didn’t use that social security number until about a year after the CT resident died in Hawaii.
There also are questions about the Chicago property the President owns. In that city a PIN (Property Identification Number) is attached to each parcel, in perpetuity. It doesn’t change with owners. That number is redacted on the President’s income taxes! Why? It was discovered that the number has been changed from inside the Chicago City Records Office, not once, but several times after Obama bought it. Look at other listed owners of the property during the SAME period Obama has owned it. One was a friend of his who is a judge and another, the accounting firm Obama used for his finances. Then we should ask who gave the president his favorable mortgage when he didn’t qualify for it under normal guidelines. I for one, would like to know who was behind the mortgage deal. It took down Donovan here in CT, is hurting Murphy for Senate, and it should be addressed in the President’s case, too! I can’t go into all the questions surrounding the President here, but these are a sampling of the real issues that scare the heck out of the Democrats. To avoid responding they call names and cast aspirations. The reason, in my opinion, is they have no defense. Notice I never brought up the birth certificate itself. I don’t have to because there are so many other issues of which I only touched on a few surrounding this man’s identity. As citizens and voters we have a right and a duty to be informed and to know who Obama is since he wants to be our leader.
1) The "Pelosi's In On It" Claim - the only reference I could find about this was on the WND website. WND has never been known for its journalistic excellence or its unwavering support for an unbiased truth, so while this claim might be right, as I've found nothing to dispute, I would take it with a grain of salt. You were once a college professor, right? Surely you know about using reputable sources? 2) The "He Illegally Travelled to Pakistan" Claim - This one is 100% false. All American citizens, at least according to the State Department, which is a more reputable source than WND, were able to legally travel to Pakistan in 1981. Since Barack Obama is an American citizen, he was more than able to travel to Pakistan without breaking the law. Furthermore, a New York Times (I know, I know, a nasty liberal rag mag) reporter, Barbara Crossette, traveled to Pakistan in 1981 and wrote about it in her column. Here's a startign place for you. -- You can view the President's redacted income tax return online. You will see the property number blocked out in black. -- You can physically visit the Chicago City Hall's Records Office to view the actual land documents and see the changes to President Obama's property record made right there! The office personnel will admit this is illegal to do when questioned but have no idea how is occured or hwo in the office did it. The office is open to the public. -- CT, like all other states, had 3 specifics digits assigned to the state to use for Social Security numbers. They are the first three digist of the number. The President's SS # is available. You can check out the number and compare it. It is a CT number although he was not born in CT and has never lived here. These are facts, not propaganda. That is why President Obama is hiding his background, in my opinion. We know less about this man than any other president. Here's a fun one.... maybe some Patch reader can confirm this? President Obama, apparently, has been without jewelry (watch, wedding ring, etc) during the Muslim period of Ramadan this year. Is it a coincidence? Just asking as it is my understanding that Muslims do not wear jewlery during this period. I would love someone to debunk this - I just haven't been able to confirm it one way or the other.
4) The "SSN is Fake" Claim- this one, I admit, is a bit fishy, but there is a reasonable explanation, it seems. Social Security Numbers are assigned based on where one wants the card to be sent, not the address at which one resides. Handwritten, it is very possible for someone to mistake them. Most likely, a human typing error caused the discrepancy. As for Obama having Jean Paul Ludwig's SSN, that is also false. It seems like you have taken most of your claims from things floating around the internet as e-mail chain letters or from dubious websites. Did you even stop to consider the veracity of these claims? Or do you not care? I fear it may be the latter. I expect more from someone who wants to be a representative. There are enough bozos down in Washington; we don't need any more.
Re Social Security numbers... they no longer are issued using the place of birth criteria as in the past. One can't apply today's method to yesterday's issue of the CT number for the President. You are mixing apples and oranges. In addition, my understanding is that the sequence doesn't fit the age of the president. Finally, many, many of us believe strongly in Romney and that he will put this country back on the correct path. I am FOR Mitt Romney. He is a good and generous man. His tax returns indicate he gave much more to charity than our President. I admire Mitt Romney for being successful and for making his own fortune in a highly respectable company. It is good to be successful. He left the private sector where he could have eanred a much greater fortune to become a public servant in Mass. He chose to give back. Mitt Romney is living the American dream. I want him to be successful, too, when he is running the nation from the White House. Mitt Romney's religion precludes him from bragging about his charitable work or personal goods deeds. I truly respect that he abides by his beliefs. He has given much more to charity than our President, according to the IRS forms released.

Let me tell you this: as of 2011, SSNs are no longer issued using the MAILING ADDRESS, not birth place, as the criterion for the first three digits. So whenever Barack Obama received his social security number (presumably when he was born, in 1961), it was done so on the basis of where it was requested that his social security card be sent. What kind of economy did Bush 'inherit' from the Clinton administration?--A recession, largely due in part to the unsustainability of the huge .com bubble that had triggered economic expansion. Then, just 10 months into Bush's first term, we suffered a terrible attack on our country and economic center--at least partly due to Clinton failing to kill bin Laden when he had the chances. Further, it was the Democrat Party that controlled Congress during Bush's final two years--including your ballyhooed Obama. That 'dog whistle' claim of racism is getting old. Heck, even when Pelosi charged numerous racist taunts being made as the Democrats marched into the House--an event covered by MANY news outlets--nobody has been able to produce any electronic evidence of it. How about explaining how the Democrat-controlled Senate has yet under BHO to vote on a single budget put forth by Harry Reid, who still has the numbers to push one through. BHO may be re-elected.
