Mazzucco: Vendetta Truly on Ruocco’s Part

In a letter to the editor, East Haven Republican Town Committee Chairman Ben Mazzucco calls to question recent statements made by his Democratic Town Committee counterpart Gene Ruocco.

To the Editor:

In an article in the New Haven Register on April 21, 2012, Democratic Town Chairman accused of having a vendetta for asking Police Commissioner Cal Perez, who was for allegedly threatening a High School student, to from his position as Police Commissioner pending disposition of his arrest.

Maturo said he would appoint a prominent Democrat to the position in the interim citing individuals such as Former Mayor Henry Luzzi, Former Probate Judge Michael Albis and even Former State Representative Mike Lawlor.

Ruocco further stated Perez is innocent until proven guilty and therefore it is nothing more than a political vendetta. If Ruocco clearly reads the first paragraph of this letter, maybe he can point out the vendetta. Or is this just another attempt to keep his bullying type of politics in the forefront of the New Haven Register?

Ruocco said Perez was a key player in an ongoing investigation with the Department of Justice. Well, so what?! Perez is involved in threatening a High School student. Hello! How can Perez sit in judgment of others when he himself is accused of a serious crime?

Mr. Ruocco, are you saying the four officers arrested are being treated unfairly because they are innocent until found guilty, that they should be back on the job pending the outcome of the charges? Or maybe, just maybe, that is was unconstitutional for the officers to be banned from the Town they and their families live in? I think not!

Know, Mr. Ruocco, while you practice the political bash game, I will stand strong in support of the Mayor’s request in keeping the best interest of our citizens and the integrity of our Police Department first and foremost.

Ben Mazzucco
