Original Post

Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr. has just notified area media outlets that he will be holding a press conference Tuesday morning to announce his choice for the new permanent chief of police for the East Haven Police Department.

The conference will be held in front of the Mayor's Office inside Town Hall starting at 10 a.m.

Maturo announced earlier this month that the pool of candidates had been shrunk down to five finalists — including current Interim Police Chief Brent Larabbee.

East Haven Patch will be at Tuesday morning's press conference to cover the announcement, as well as providing live updates via our Facebook and Twitter pages.

To Police Chief Brent Larrabee, as an East Haven resident, I would like to extend
my heartiest congratulation on becoming our permanent Chief of Police. Talk is that you have been most successful and knowledgeable in taking over the department. My best wishes to you and all the men and women who will work along with you,

If press story is correct, I also congratulate Chief Larrabee. I for one who had transitioned through 5 chiefs it is difficut alone when one comes from inside the department but much worse bringing in an outsider. Chief Larrabee by now knows the town and especially its politics, but most of all knows the men, and thats important. Now he can continue to build the PD to his mold having no fear of being out of the job for the forceable future.

Seems their incoherant comments stem from too much Jameson too early in the morn.
Is it any wonder these Public Works boys drive off the ride and into houses. Put the iphone down and get back to work, dummy.
Congratulations to Chief Larabee in becoming the new Chief.
He has demonstrated thus far he has exactly what it takes to bring the department to a new level of respectability and safeguard the residents of East Haven. I could not agree with this choice more and wish Chief Larabee all the best.

Want to extend my congrats to Chief Larabee. My question to him is: What plan do you have in place to ensure that your department will not see the episodes of egregious corruption from rogue officers that have formally surfaced such as that of Jason Zullo? We all want a better PD and hope (and trust) that you will run a clean department. What steps do you have in place to further this end, and what is your vision for the department with regard to race relations and equal protection for ALL? Again, congratulations, and thank you for your service to East Haven.

Congrats to Chief Larabee. Another huge step in our town moving forward with positive changes.

Hey Hoff are you trying to gain favor with the new Chief because you think he'll keep you out of jail? Don't think so he'd lock your butt up so fast cause he's a no nonsense type of guy. So you better be good on Michael Street or you know what will happen!! Ching Ching...

I'm disappointed with the new format. Doesn't seem to be very user friendly.

Gov. O'mally is ruining this State by driving more and more people into poverty, giving illegalsRead More drivers licenses, letting criminals out of jail early, pushing good companies out, and making it's citizens unsafe. Time to clean house starting locally!

WE THE PEOPLE have no say in how governments govern nor how OUR money is spent. WE supposedly electRead More people who take the trust of the people with them when elected and do the will of WE THE PEOPLE. This has never happened. Especially in state and federal office. Once in office the power they discover they now have pushes aside the will of the people. It an attitude of we have the power and you don't. Someday, but I doubt it, we can elect those who will not loose site of why they were elected.
