"Removing one piece of the puzzle is not enough. Chief Len Gallo's resignation only detracts attention from Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr.'s potential involvement in allowing to take place. Moreover, allowing the Mayor and his administration to name members of the search committee to find a replacement Chief of Police further deepens the existing corruption," said Connecticut State Rep. Minnie Gonzalez (D-3rd), a Hartford resident who serves as the caucus' president.

"I strongly urge federal investigators to take a deeper look into the mayor and his administration as the n community still demands answers," Gonzalez said.

FBI Probe Widens

The caucus' demand to investigation Maturo comes on the heels of reports that federal investigators have extended their investigation from the into .

As by WPIX Mario Diaz, Maturo himself may be one of the many subjects of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's probe.

And a New Haven Register report today confirms FBI investigators have asked about Maturo, as well as his top deputy Arthur L. DeSorbo, Board of Education maintenance chief Joseph Travaglino and former zoning enforcement officer George Mingione, who served in Maturo's previous administration.

The on-the-record source for both reports was former Deputy of Town Affairs Jr, who served under former Mayor April Capone.

Maturo, however, has denied any knowledge that he has been a target of federal investigators. DeSorbo and Travaglino also denied any knowlege federal investigators have looked into their dealins as town officials in The Register's report.

And as calls for his own resignation begin to grow, Maturo continues to maintain he will not be stepping down from his post as East Haven's top elected official.
