He's Back: Maturo Wants His Old Seat Back

At the Republican Town Committee meeting Monday, former Mayor Joe Maturo announced his intention to run again.

Republican Joe Maturo served five terms as mayor of East Haven, 1997-2007. Monday night, he emphatically declared his intention to return to Town Hall this November.

During his spirited announcement at the Republican Town Committee's monthly meeting, he said he wanted to fix the wrongs of the Capone years. He also acknowledged John Finkle, who made his bid for mayor official in January. Maturo said Finkle is a "good" man, but it's time for Maturo to take the helm again.

Asked for comment, Finkle said he knew for the last eight months that Maturo would run. "It's the democratic process," he said.
