Five Things To Know Today

We've compiled a list to help you stay in touch with your community.

1. There are four town meetings tonight.

  • A budget workshop will take place at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center.
  • The School Building Committee will meet at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, 250 Main St., in the Mario Giaimo Room.
  • Water Pollution Control Board meets at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
  • The Counseling and Community Services Commission will meet at 7 p.m. at 595 Thompson Ave.

2. The Board of Education met last night. Here’s a link to an article to find out what transpired.

3. Resident volunteers are needed to serve on several boards and commissions. According to the town website, the following boards and commissions have available seats:

4. According to the town website, Mayor April Capone is compiling a roster of all town youth, social and service organizations to determine the demand for meeting places and other facilities. All such groups are asked to send a short statement to the Mayor’s Office indicating the age groups or clientele served, the number in the group, and the name and address of the contact person for that group. A short statement of meeting places and space requirements should also be included.

5. This week’s film in the movie matinee series is "Gulliver’s Travels." The film will be screened today, April 19, at 2 p.m.
