East Haven's April Capone Named CT Dems Political Director

The former East Haven mayor was working at the state Office of Police & Management.

April Capone, a former two-term East Haven mayor, has been named the new political director of the Connecticut Democrats.

As political director, Capone will be charged with recruiting new candidates and coordinating with local town committees, according to ctnews.com. Capone, who was working at the Connecticut Office of Police & Management, was a two-term mayor of East Haven who lost her seat to current Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr. in 2011 by 31 votes.

“It was an excellent catch to be able to get her to come here,” Jonathan Harris, the state party’s executive director, told Hearst Connecticut Newspapers.
